R-Studio Data Recovery [2022 Review]

If you’re among the millions of people who accidentally delete files all the time, you’ll know how frustrating it is to try and get your lost files back. This is what prompted the rise in popularity of data recovery tools such as R-Studio Data Recovery. Using these tools makes it easier for the everyday computer user to retrieve files that they thought would be gone forever. In this article, we’re going to explore R-Studio Data Recovery and review it in depth.

Everything to Know About R-Studio Data Recovery

As you probably figured out by now, R-Studio Data Recovery is a software solution that lets users recover data that has been lost in various ways. Before we jump into the main R-Studio Data Recovery review, we’re going to list some of the main features it includes.

  • -Recover files that were accidentally deleted, corrupted, or formatted
  • -Hundreds of different file formats can be recovered
  • -Files on Windows and Mac computers are supported
  • -Provides local data recovery and network data recovery features
  • -Folders can be recovered with their original structure

The ability to recover folders and files using their original structures is a unique feature and one which makes R-Studio Data Recovery a unique solution. There are plenty of other notable features that this software provides which make it one of the most dynamic data recovery options.

One thing that we noticed about this program during our review is that it is a more advanced recovery solution than others. We’ll get into this more later, but this can be a good and a bad thing depending on the user.

Effectiveness

To gauge how effective R-Studio Date Recovery is we gave it a test run. Given the size of our hard drives exceed 1TB, we limited the recovery to a directory containing around 25GB of files (including roughly 5GB of purposely deleted files). We knew the files that we had deleted so seeing how effective the software is was very easy.

We only ran a scan in Simple Mode so there’s a chance that if we had used Advanced Mode, we would have gotten much better results. However, there wasn’t much room for improvement as R-Studio Data Recovery managed to return around 98% of the files that had been deleted.

The scan lasted no longer than 15 minutes and only a handful of files were unfound. Again, Advanced Mode could have found those lost files, although we are happy with these results. In terms of effectiveness, R-Studio Data Recovery is ranked high.

How Does it Work?

Now you know a bit about what features R-Studio Data Recovery brings to the table and how effective it can be, but how does it work? To give you an overview of the steps involved, here’s a short guide to using the software.

Step #1 – Download and install the suitable version of R-Studio Data Recovery on your computer.
Step #2 – Open the software and you’ll see a list of the storage drives currently connected to your computer. Click on the drive you want to recover files from and click the Scan icon.
Step #3 – A pop-up window will appear. Change the Scan view setting depending on if you want to run a quick scan or a detailed scan, but don’t change any of the other settings if you aren’t familiar with them. Click Scan to continue.
Step #4 – Wait until the scan is complete (this may take several hours).
Step #5 – After the scan is done, browse the files that were found and select the ones you want to recover.
Step #6 – Click the Recover Marked button and choose a folder location to save them to, then click Ok to finish the process.

One thing to note about this process is that if you launch R-Studio Data Recovery, you’ll see a lot of different features. For more advanced users this is great, but as most of our readers won’t understand many of these features it simply makes the program look cluttered.

Pricing

After taking a look at the R-Studio pricing page it’s clear that this is an area where they could improve. There are 6 license options but even just their names make it very confusing about which one to buy if you want to use R-Studio Data Recovery.

To answer that question: the standard R—Studio package is priced at $79.99 and provides access to this aspect of their tools.

There are other licenses reaching up to $899.99 which also include the data recovery tool, but that is clearly much more expensive.

What Do Customers Think?

Based on the user reviews that we’ve seen for R-Studio Data Recovery, the majority of users are happy with how this solution performs, giving it an average rating of 4.6 stars.

The biggest praise is for the software’s extensive use and complexity. This furthers our belief that for users who want a more advanced data recovery tool that provides extensive options, this is a great solution.

The biggest complaint is that the software is too complicated which, unfortunately, is a side effect of having so many features.

Pros and Cons

Sometimes it feels overwhelming to read all these details and you just want to get some quick pieces of information to help you make a decision – we get it. That’s why we’ve included a list of pros and cons to help you decide if R-Studio Data Recovery is the program you need.

Pros

  • -Great for advanced users who want full control
  • -Effective and reliable at recovering data
  • -The fantastic success rate of 98%
  • -Can restore data from devices that are damaged

Cons

  • -Not an ideal data recovery solution for beginners
  • -Packages can be very confusing
  • -It takes a long time to get familiar with the software

Our Verdict

R-Studio Data Recovery is a fantastic piece of software that is great at recovering most data types. What it lacks is user-friendliness. It includes a lot of useful features that, of course, are welcomed by any expert PC user. But given the outdated interface and how few guides there are about all these features, any basic computer user will quickly realise how overcomplicated the program seems.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing although it does mean that not everyone will get as much use out of R-Studio Data Recovery.

The bottom line: if you’re experienced with data recovery tools then go ahead and check it out, and be sure to try out all the handy features that it comes with. But if you’re unfamiliar with data recovery tools then your best bet is to look at some simpler alternatives that are designed with simplicity in mind.

Best Alternative – StarzSoft Data Recovery

As you can see, R-Studio Data Recovery has some flaws and isn’t perfect. Sure, it gets the job done, but a more effective solution is StarzSoft Data Recovery. Many of the aforementioned downsides are solved with this solution, and here are some notable features that it includes:

  • -Compatible with over 1000 common and rare file formats
  • -Users can scan their computer and preview recoverable data for free
  • -Has a 99% success rate (among the highest on the market!)
  • -Scanning can be run for specific folders or entire hard drives
  • -Suitable for any data loss situation
  • -Technical support is available for any customer who needs help

StarzSoft Data Recovery excels in a lot of areas and although it shares many traits that R-Studio Data Recovery has, it does so much more effectively. More file types are supported, it has a higher success rate, and it’s much easier for typical computer users to use.

Step-by-Step Guide to StarzSoft Data Recovery

Now that we’ve looked at what both of these recovery solutions include, the final thing to do is look at how StarzSoft Data Recovery works so that you can get a clear comparison of the two solutions.

Step #1 – Start by installing any version of StarzSoft Data Recovery on your computer.
Step #2 – Run the program and select the location you want to scan for lost data. You can choose a specific folder by clicking Select Folder or scan an entire drive.
Step #3 – Wait for the scan to complete (the larger the location you chose is, the longer the scan will take.
Step #4 – Once the scan is over you can freely browse all of the files that have been found. Select the ones you want to have recovered.

Tip: preview data before recovering it by simply double-clicking on the file.

Step #5 – Click the Recover button and choose a folder to recover the files to.

Compared to the R-Studio Data Recovery method this is significantly easier. On top of that, you’ll also see that the user interface is cleaner and therefore makes the method easier to follow.

Conclusion

Overall, both of the data recovery solutions that we showed you in our R-Studio Data Recovery review are great at what they do. However, deciding on which one to use varies from user to user. Most people will find that Starzsoft Data Recovery is the best option since it is better suited for the everyday computer user whereas advanced users may enjoy the extensive features that R-Studio Data Recovery has to offer.
